Your Teen Isn't Broken. They're Overwhelmed.

David Björkström - ADHD & Addiction Coach

If your child is struggling with ADHD, addiction, emotional shutdown, or constant conflict… this isn’t a discipline problem, it’s a nervous system in distress.

I work with parents and teens together to calm the chaos, rebuild connection, and address the root of what’s really going on.

Do You Recognize Your Child in This?

Your teen might:

  • Get overwhelmed easily, then escape into screens, substances, or complete shutdown
  • Swing between intense focus… and total lack of motivation
  • Push you away when you try to help, even when they clearly need support
  • React with anger, defensiveness, or numbness instead of opening up
  • Say "I don't care"… but you can feel that's not the truth
  • Keep repeating the same destructive patterns, no matter the consequences
  • Struggle with ADHD, addiction—or both—and nothing you've tried seems to reach them

At some point, it stopped feeling like normal teenage behavior, and started feeling like you're losing them.

This isn't a discipline issue. And it's not just ADHD, or just addiction.

Your child is trying to regulate something they don't yet have the tools to face.

Most teens don’t need more pressure. They need someone who actually understands what they’re carrying.

the challenge

Why Nothing Has Worked So Far

Most approaches focus on fixing behavior.

More discipline. More structure. More consequences. Or on the other side, more talking, more advice, more trying to "get through."

But when a teen is overwhelmed internally… none of that actually reaches them.

ADHD and addictive patterns aren't random.

They're ways of coping with something underneath: stress, pressure, emotional overload that they don't know how to process.

So when you try to change the behavior without addressing what's driving it… the pattern just comes back in a different form.

That's why it feels like nothing sticks.

Because the real issue hasn't been addressed yet.

What Actually Helps

Real change doesn't start with controlling behavior. It starts with understanding what your child is actually trying to escape from.

Because when a teen feels overwhelmed inside… they will find a way out, whether that's distraction, shutdown, or substances.

And as long as they feel misunderstood… nothing you try will fully land.

Instead of trying to control your teen… we work on what's happening underneath the behavior.

We focus on three key areas:

1

Stabilizing the System

Helping your teen come out of constant overwhelm, reactivity, or numbness, so they can actually feel without needing to escape.

2

Understanding What's Driving It

Helping them see what's underneath their patterns, in a way they don't resist or shut down from.

3

Rebuilding Trust Between You

So your child can finally feel understood, and become open to change again.

When your child no longer needs to escape what they feel…

the behavior starts to change on its own.

How We Work Together

Step 1

Start With a Parent Clarity Call

We look at what's really going on with your child, beyond the surface behavior, and where things are getting stuck.

You'll leave with a clearer understanding of what's happening and what actually needs to change.

Step 2

Create a Focused Plan

If it feels like a good fit, we map out the next steps — based on your child, your situation, and where they're at right now.

No generic approach. No forcing them into something that doesn't fit.

Step 3

Ongoing Support & Coaching

I work with your teen directly, while also guiding you as a parent, so the change is supported from both sides.

This is where trust builds, patterns start to shift, and things begin to open up.

This isn't a one-size-fits-all program.

Everything is adapted to your child and your situation.

Why I Do This Work

I've seen these patterns from the inside.

I know what it's like to struggle with ADHD, to escape through addiction, to get stuck in cycles that don't make sense from the outside, but feel impossible to break from within.

And I also know what actually creates change, because I've lived it, and spent years studying and understanding what's really going on beneath the surface.

I became the kind of person I needed when I was younger — someone who doesn't just try to fix behavior, but understands what's really going on underneath it.

Most approaches focus on managing behavior. But when you've been on the inside of it… you realize the behavior was never the real problem.

That's why my work focuses on helping teens feel understood, stabilize what's going on internally, and address what's actually driving the patterns, so change can happen in a way that lasts.

I've worked many years with teens and parents facing these exact challenges, and I've seen how quickly things can shift when the right approach is in place.

"I don’t know much about this work or what it entails, but the minute I met David I felt extremely comfortable giving him the full reigns to work with my son Jack. His passion and expertise were immediately palpable, and my son found so much relief in just speaking with him even in our first group meeting. A few months in, I saw huge progress in Jack and his adhd - he started speaking more calmly, and he was so much more patient and loving with everything. After a while I basically just let them work and didn’t intervene anymore, and over the next year, I saw Jack literally transform into a brand new human being. No other way to say it. It was beautiful, even a bit overwhelming. All to say, I’m truly so grateful to David, and I would highly recommend his services to any parents in a similar position!"

Teacher & Mother

"David, working with you has truly been life-changing. Your support guided me through the darkest moments of depression, anxiety, and addiction. The biggest gift you gave me is a renewed belief in myself and the courage to sit with my feelings, trusting that they will pass in time. Thanks to your encouragement and wisdom, I now face each day with more hope and acceptance, knowing that even the toughest emotions can be transformed."

Ted

CEO & Founder

"So I hired David to work with me for 6 months to help me deal with some deep rooted addictions I’ve been dealing with since very young. It was hard to reach out as I didn’t want to admit my problem, but after just the second week I had so much more clarity and self awareness that I decided to hire him for an entire year. Super crazy for someone like me, but not only have I completely resolved my internal conflicts around my addictions, but I have an entirely new view of my life and the world, specifically in my relationship to spirituality and my health. All to say, if you’re struggling with addiction or even just knowing who you truly are, I truly can’t recommend David enough."
